ABOUT TIA JENSEN

I have been a lawyer since 1994.  I was in the courtroom, prosecuting cases, as an intern, prior to my admission to the practice of law. I was a prosecutor for the first nearly 10 years of my legal experience, and have been focused on family law ever since.  I am a mediator and was appointed as a guardian-ad-litem for minor children; appointed as a parenting coordinator in high conflict parenting cases; and appointed as an attorney-ad-litem for minor children.

I grew up in central Illinois and moved to Florida upon graduation from college in 1990.  My ex-husband and I have two adult sons and co-parented for many years.  My ex-husband has been married to his wife for over 20 years, and they have a child.  I have been married for 18 years to my husband, who is a retired police captain.  My husband and I moved to Tennessee in late 2020, and we continue to enjoy the outdoors, our family whom have moved here, our church family, and the friends we have made here in our community.

When my husband and I moved to Monterey, Tennessee, I began learning Tennessee family law and was trained as a Rule 31 listed mediator for family law with a domestic violence designation.  I volunteered with the Nashville Conflict Resolution Center, as a co-mediator.  I opened my  office in Cookeville, Tennessee, then moved my office to Crossville, but still provide family law legal services to Cookeville and the surrounding communities, including Cumberland County.

Below, you will find a listing of my education and experience.  As can be seen from the “Practice Areas” section, family law is complex, and the financial and emotional ramifications can be long-term, affecting your children and your children’s children.  There is no substitute for actually hiring a family law attorney to represent you and/or advise you as to your case.

From 2003 to December 2021, Tia E. Jensen, P.A. has focusted on family law, including litigation and negotiations of the following issues in accordance with the law:

  • The Equitable Distribution of Real and Personal Property

  • Retirement Accounts

  • Businesses, Stocks, and Investment Accounts

  • Determination of Support Issues

  • Time-Sharing and Parental Responsibility

  • Child Support Calculations

All other related family law issues, such as, attorney’s fees and post-divorce issues of enforcement of equitable distribution and alimony and contempt actions and modification actions.

In 2016, I started another company, Alternative Legal Resolutions, LLC, in which I provided services in Mediation, Guardian Ad Litem(GAL), Parenting Coordination, and teaching lawyers and judges.

In 1994 to 2003* I Worked at the Office of the State Attorney (SAO) in Sarasota, FL. During my time as an Assistant State Attorney, I prosecuted in the misdemeanor division, juvenile division, domestic violence division and felony division, including white collar crime. I was a division chief in Venice prior to the felony
division.
